Editorial policy
Active Theatre Review aims to make its theatre coverage clear, accurate and independent. We distinguish considered editorial work from material created with a partner, and we correct errors openly.
Accuracy and care
We check names, terminology and factual statements before publication, and take care not to present opinion as settled fact. Where a subject allows for several sound approaches, we explain the choice at hand rather than claiming there is one correct method.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. Any material produced with a partner, paid placement or other commercial contribution is clearly labelled where it appears, so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial coverage.
Corrections
If a reader identifies a factual error, we review the concern and update the relevant text when a correction is warranted. Significant changes are identified in the article so readers can understand what was amended.
Images and illustrations
Illustrations may be commissioned, sourced or generated with AI. When an illustration is AI-generated, it is identified as such; illustrative images are not presented as documentary records of a real production.
A play is built through choices
We look at how small decisions about text, space, timing and collaboration add up to a performance that feels whole.
